Nonprofit to honor ‘Women with a Heart for Bakersfield’
Garden Pathways, which offers mentoring to youth and families in Bakersfield, will honor four local women with records of exceptional community service and leadership: Kim Albers, Cathy Butler, Susan Hersberger and Dayna Nichols. The High Tea will be held June 9.

Art-A-Go-Go is a two-part party tonight and Saturday featuring used, donated works of art for sale. The fundraiser benefits the Bakersfield Museum of Art’s future education programs.

Halloween party donations sought for homeless children
The Bakersfield Homeless Center is in need of donations of food, pumpkins, costumes, or carnival booth volunteers for its annual Halloween Spooktacular Carnival from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24.
