Education expert to speak at Garden Party fundraiser
Education expert and cameo star in the Sundance Film Festival’s best documentary of 2010 “Waiting for Superman,” Lance Izumi, will be guest speaker at Garden Pathway’s Garden Party fundraiser Thursday, Nov. 18. Proceeds will expand the classroom facilities of Garden Pathways and increase mentoring and education services.

BMOA goes wild with western-themed exhibits
It’s the “Best of the West” at the Bakersfield Museum of Art, as it opens three new exhibits Thursday, June 10, including collections from 17 local lenders. Also, the “Masterworks of Western Paintings” features works by some of the biggest names in Western art.
