Bakersfield College faculty take art to LA

“Reflectors” (acrylic, mixed media) by Cameron Brian, Bakersfield College art instructor

LA Artcore presents the “Bakersfield College Faculty Exhibit” Sept. 2 through 30 at the LA Artcore Gallery at the Brewery Annex. An opening reception will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sept. 5 with a conversation with the artists at 2 p.m.

LA Artcore is a nonprofit organization that helps develop the careers of visual artists and brings innovative contemporary art to the public. Artcore operates two exhibition venues for artists of all ages and diverse cultural backgrounds, and conducts educational programs that enhance artist interaction.

The BC faculty show is a reciprocal exchange after five LA Artcore artists showed their work at BC last fall. Now 11 artists who teach at BC will exhibit their work in LA. The artists include: Laura Borneman, Nan Gomez-Heitzeberg, David Koeth, Emily Maddigan, Adel Shafik, Kristopher Stallworth, Cameron Brian, Nina Landgraff, Cecilia Noyes, Claire Putney and Debora Rodenhauser.

The faculty members teach everything from painting and drawing to digital art, photography, ceramics, sculpture, and 2D design.

The LA Artcore Brewery Annex Gallery is located at 650 A South Avenue 21, Los Angeles. Gallery hours are noon to 4 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. Learn more at www.laartcore.org/brewery-annex or call (323) 276-9320.
